This is an excellent opportunity to join a non-profit public private partnership that works with a federation of banks and agencies to proactively reduce cyber threats and crime.

Working in the Information Security and IT Department and reporting to the Director of Information Security and Technology, this role is critical to the business and is responsible for all aspects of network security, applications, architecture design, implementation, oversight, monitoring and incident response.

Amongst other duties, this role is also responsible for working with and assisting in enabling, developing and implementing day to day tools and systems for the staff, as well as understanding requirements of the teams and thereby researching, analysing and recommending security tools and systems to make teams more effective.

Key Responsibilities:

• Hands-on management of processes relating to the installation, maintenance and operation of security infrastructure including firewalls, proxies and IPS
• Proactively monitoring security logs for threats and anomalies
• Developing, monitoring and maintaining methods to identify unauthorised access on the networks, both corporate and research networks
• Develop methods and procedures to identify data loss attempts
• Design, implement and maintain a data loss prevention strategy, architecture and monitoring system
• Continuous monitoring of security vulnerabilities that would impact business infrastructure
• Assist teams to ensure all devices, computers, servers have the latest security patches
• Reviews and validates all configurations on the network
• Validate and maintains security of the local area network equipment and wireless networks
• Network monitoring and troubleshooting network and performance issues
• Server backups and restores - setup/testing/monitoring;
• New server builds and hardening
• Scripting / automation
• Identifies operational problems and is accountable for their resolution in accordance with agreed standards and procedures
• Provides security oversight / advice to the IT department and to the business
• Responsible for the implementation of agreed changes, updates and maintenance routines (Change Process Management)
• Regularly reviews infrastructure to ensure best practices are being followed and where necessary to escalate problems / issues (process or compliance) as necessary
• Enforcing role-based access control
• Disaster recovery reviews and implementations
• Monitors and reports on supplier performance, customer satisfaction and market intelligence
• Monitors performance of suppliers against KPI`s
• Develops opportunities for continuous improvements
• Initiates and leads on network security-related project pieces
• Involvement in proposed solutions for new systems and upgrades
• Responsible for implementation of agreed remedies, procedures and preventative measures for incidents

Skills / Experience / Qualifications

Essential

• Demonstrable experience of working in network security or similar area (5+ years preferred)
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
• Ability to solve multiple complex problems with a proactive approach
• Innovative and lateral thinker who spots opportunities and builds on these to help to evolve teams, quick to learn new skills
• Strong automation / scripting skills - Python and Bash
• Some knowledge of vulnerability scanning and penetration testing techniques
• A good knowledge and hands on experience of current Windows Server operating environments, Active Directory and Group Policy
• Exposure to SIEM technologies
• Strong understanding of secure network design principles
• Experienced in Windows, MAC and Linux operating systems
• Understanding / knowledge of virtualisation technologies
• MySQL/MSSQL/PostgreSQL Database platforms
• Experienced in secure network architectures Subnetting, DNS, encryption technologies and standards, VPNs, VLANs, VoIP and other network routing methods
• Knowledge of network and web related protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, UDP, IPSEC, HTTP, HTTPS, routing protocols)
• Strong packet capture and analysis skills
• Sound knowledge of Advanced Persistent Threats (APT), phishing and social engineering network access controllers (NAC) gateway anti-malware and enhanced authentication
• Experience of Active Directory, Microsoft Server 2013, Exchange servers 2013

Preferred

• CISCO Certified Network professional (CCNP)
• Experienced in or knowledge of IDS / IPS, penetration and vulnerability testing, firewall and intrusion detection and preventative protocols
• Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) or similar qualification
• Experience of deploying cloud services such as AWS for remote infrastructure operations
• Experience of secure coding practices, ethical hacking and threat modelling
• Knowledge of identity and access management principles
• Knowledge of application security and encryption technologies

Working hours are 40 per week Monday to Friday with additional hours required at times
