General Management

Provides transversal module support for the sites ERP system and is the focal point within Burnley for escalations with the central information process team for both issue resolution and upgrades and enhancements. This role is also responsible for liaising with business departments that have industrialized IT, to ensure that production downtime is kept to a minimum by being the point of escalation between 3rd parties and internal IT functions, knowledge of the interfaces of these systems is vital.
The Application Systems Manager has a specific understanding of the interfaces, services and protocols of applications utilised at the local site and within the group generally. This includes desktop applications, Industrial IT, server applications and computer security systems from shop floor to offices.

Evolutions, improvements & enhancements

Leads the process of change management for application improvements and enhancements.
Coordinates SAP key users for testing and validations when changes to the system have been made.
Assists and supports the central support teams in identifying and implementing methods which could help to increase security, efficiency and effectiveness of applications.
Analyses, designs and implement process improvements across the site (including data migration & testing methodology).
Leads the implementation of new business applications / IT apps for the site.
Contributes to lean projects to ensure that changes introduced through improvement projects are replicated within the ERP system to ensure the effectiveness.

Management reporting & analysis

Provides structural support for business applications with appropriate measurement documentation and training.
Supports the development/improvement with applicable business intelligent systems.
Facilitates and devises business reports in conjunction with functional heads to support operational activities.
Analyses the root cause of metrics not at target level and works with the relevant function to develop the necessary action plans.
Understands system interdependencies as well as existing and anticipated application/ERP functionality.

Candidate skills & requirements

Essential Skills:
Demonstrable knowledge of relevant SAP Modules, methodologies and techniques.
Functional experience of implementing SAP modules.
Proficient in MRPII process's.
Significant & demonstrable corporate experience of working in a manufacturing business environment dealing with IS/IT related queries from a wide range of business customers and ticketing systems.
Significant & demonstrable corporate experience of developing and supporting SAP systems.
Experience of delivering IS/IT projects within agreed timelines.
Flexible and open to business change.
Write, review & update documentation and procedures.
Integrity within the role and in all aspects of working relationships.
Analytical skills, problem resolution, gauging data drift and consequences.
Stakeholder management, effective communication and engagement skills.
Mentoring & knowledge sharing within the SAP Key user community.
Critical thinking.
Excellent understanding of data administration and management functions (collection, analysis, distribution etc...)
Adherence to reliability indicators for applicable systems where they exist.
Creation of reliability indicators for applicable systems where they don't exist.

Desirable Skills:
Knowledge of a variety of formal project management methods.
Knowledge of business economics.
BSc / BA in computer science or relevant field.
Familiar with the information systems used in the Supply Chain: i.e. ERP, Supplier Portal.
Familiar with desktop tools.
