Recession helps pizza chains recruit nearly 1,000

The recession has led more people to eat pizza and in turn created almost 1,000 jobs, it has been reported.
As diners stay away from more expensive choices the larger chains are moving to open more outlets, the Times has reported.
According to the paper, 660 new posts have already been created and Pizza Hut and Dominos are set to expand offering 480 more jobs.
It appears that the increased popularity of the Italian dish is a worldwide phenomenon. According to Australian paper the Age, by the end of this year Australians will have spent nearly $6 billion (£2.9 billion) on pizzas and other fast foods.
Dieticians are concerned however, the chairman of the Irish Sports Council told the Times: "I would urge people not to go down the pizza road as a substitute for fine dining or a proper dinner with vegetables and the balance that people need."
Other businesses have enjoyed success despite the difficulties of the current economic climate.
Discount supermarket Aldi achieved its highest ever share of the UK grocery market in May last year.
